Lethpora-Ladhoo road in shambles, residents demand urgent macadamisation
Pulwama: Residents of Ladhoo and Lethpora area in Awantipora sub-division of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have expressed strong resentment over the dilapidated condition of the vital Lethpora-Ladhoo road, urging the authorities to take immediate steps for its macadamisation.
Locals said that the road, which connects several villages and leads to the important Khrew industrial area, has not been fully macadamised for the past several years, causing immense hardships to commuters and residents alike.
“While the stretch from Ladhoo to Khrew was macadamised recently, around three kilometres of the Lethpora-Ladhoo stretch has been left unattended,” said Younis Ahmad, a local resident.
“Patching work was carried out last year, but it didn’t last long, and the road is now riddled with potholes,” he added.
He added that this vital road was macadamised fully a few years ago, but the lack of timely maintenance has led to its deterioration. “Commuters are facing a tough time due to its poor condition. Despite repeated appeals, the government seems to be ignoring our plight.”
Other residents echoed similar concerns, accusing the administration of adopting an indifferent attitude toward their demands. “We were hopeful that this road would be macadamised this year, but so far, no action has been taken. This negligence is deeply disappointing,” they said.
The locals said that the Lethpora-Ladhoo road is crucial not only for residents but also for industrial traffic to and from Khrew. They appealed to the concerned authorities to prioritize its upgradation.
“We once again urge the district administration and the concerned departments to intervene at the earliest and ensure the road is repaired and macadamised without further delay,” they said.
