Police seizes 11 vehicles in Handwara
Srinagar: Police in Handwara carried out a special drive across different areas of the Police District and seized (11 vehicles) 01 JCB, 07 tractors, 03 tippers, used in the extraction and transportation of minerals without legal permission, a police spokesman said Thursday.
Acting on specific leads and in strict compliance with environmental and mining regulations, teams from various police units launched coordinated inspections and checks. The seized vehicles were found operating in violation of mining norms and without valid documentation, the spokesman added.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered, and further investigation is underway to identify and take action against those involved in the illegal trade, he said.
