Police recovered ₹28 lakh from cyber fraudsters, ₹16 Lakh returned to victims
Srinagar: Police in Handwara has recovered an amount of ₹28 lakh in the current year which had been defrauded from public through various online scams. Of this, ₹16 lakh has already been restored to the rightful owners, while the remaining ₹12 lakh has been secured and will be disbursed after completion of legal formalities and receipt of court orders, a police spokesman said Saturday.
Throughout the current year, Police received several complaints regarding cyber fraud from residents across Handwara. Acting promptly, the Cyber Cell from Police launched swift technical investigations. Early intervention enabled the freezing of fraudulent transactions, leading to the successful recovery of funds from the suspected accounts, the spokesman added.
