Police arrests two drug peddlers in Awantipora, Baramulla
Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Awantipora and Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from their possession, a police spokesman said Tuesday.
In Awantipora, a police team at a checkpoint established at Charligund area intercepted a suspicious person. During search, officers were able to recover 4.40 grams of brown sugar like substance from his possession.
He has been identified as Faizan Farooq Allie son of Farooq Ahmad Allie resident of Kadlabal Noorpora. He has been arrested and a case vide FIR Number 152/2025 under relevant section of NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation is set into motion.
In another operation in Baramulla, a police team at a checkpoint established at STC Sheeri intercepted a suspicious lady.
During checking, 153 grams of a charas-like contraband substance was recovered from the woman identified as Rozia Begum wife of Shabir Ahmad Sheikh resident of Fatehgarh. She has been arrested and a case vide FIR No. 38/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sheeri and further investigation is underway.
Police urge the common masses to share information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or dial 112, the spokesman said.
