Police arrests drug peddler in Sopore
Srinagar: Police in Sopore arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession, a police spokesman said Tuesday.
He said that a police party during a routine naka checking at Parray Mohalla Haigam, Tarzoo intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK11B-0112 driven by Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, son of Abdul Kabeer Bhat, resident of Hashmatpora Hathlangoo.
During search of the vehicle, poppy straw-like substance was recovered from his possession. Subsequently, he was arrested and a case vide FIR No.88/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo and investigation has been initiated. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized, the spokesman added.
