National conference of Estimates Committees of legislatures in Mumbai on June 23
Mumbai: A two-day national conference of the Estimates Committees of Parliament and the states will be held in Mumbai from June 23, officials said on Friday.
Deliberations will be held on the `role of Estimates Committee in effective monitoring and review of budget estimates for ensuring efficiency and economy in administration’, an official release said.
The conference is being organised to mark the 75th anniversary of the functioning of the Estimates Committee. It will be held at Vidhan Bhavan (legislative complex) here.
Among others, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha deputy Chairman Harivansh Singh will attend the event.
Birla will hold a press conference on June 24 following the conclusion of the conference.
The event will see participation of chairpersons and members of Estimates Committees of the Parliament and all states and Union Territory Legislatures.
The conference underlines the growing importance of Estimates Committees in ensuring fiscal discipline, improving administrative quality, and curbing wasteful expenditure, the release said.
