Say in present form and place transformer can put lives at risk

Pulwama: The residents of Bhat Mohalla, Pinglena in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have raised serious concerns over the dangerously low height of an electric transformer in their locality.
Locals said that there is immediate need for lifting the transformer and replace its deteriorating poles, citing a potential threat to lives, especially children and stray animals.
According to the residents, the transformer is installed at a level dangerously close to the ground, making it easily accessible to children and locals passing through the area.
The aging poles supporting the structure further compound the risk.
“The transformer is placed too low. Our children play nearby, and we constantly live in fear. A small mistake could lead to a tragedy,” said Abdul Rashid Bhat, a local resident.
The residents have submitted a written request to the Power Development Department (PDD), urging swift action.
“If the lifting up of the transformer and change of poles is not done quickly, it may result in loss of life. The department will be solely responsible if any unfortunate incident occurs,” they said
“We have highlighted this issue multiple times but no action has been taken so far. The poles are worn out and can collapse anytime,” said another resident, Mushtaq Ahmad.
The locals are demanding that the department immediately lift the transformer to a safe height and replace the old, unstable poles with new ones to prevent any mishap.
They have sought the attention of MLA Pulwama and Deputy Commissioner Pulwama in this regard.
The residents hope that the concerned authorities will take immediate action before any accident takes place.
