Srinagar man dies under mysterious circumstances in Delhi
Family alleges foul play, seeks probe
New Delhi: A 30-year-old man from Srinagar died under mysterious circumstances in the national capital, with his family alleging that he may have been attacked by unidentified persons.
The deceased, identified as Zubair Ahmed Bhat, had reportedly travelled to Delhi for work and was staying in the Lajpat Nagar area, police sources said.
According to the sources, police got a call about a man lying unconscious in a public park in injured condition. Police reached the spot and rushed the injured man to a hospital, where he later succumbed.
The body was sent back to Srinagar on Wednesday. Police have started further investigation into the matter to ascertain the cause of death.
Meanwhile, the family members of the youth have alleged foul play and have sought a probe.
“The family says the boy had migraine issue earlier, but was totally fine now. We are assisting the family and asked them if they have any kind of doubt, they can call the police or visit the police station anytime,” the official said.
The family members of the deceased said that they lost contact with Zubair 4 pm onwards on Thursday, and later, they were informed about his death. “He used to travel to Delhi for work-related matters regularly,” they said.
They claimed that they have screenshots of chats, showing he was beaten in Delhi locality where he was staying.
“We urge authorities to conduct a fair probe into the matter and bring the culprits to justice,” the family members said. (with inputs from PTI, KNO)
