GHS Kahlil Tral faces severe staff shortage, space crunch
Locals seek intervention from DC, CEO
Pulwama: Government High School Kahlil Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is grappling with a severe shortage of teaching staff, as only eight teachers are currently managing classes from Pre Nursery to 10th standard, raising serious concerns over the quality of education and burden on faculty, locals alleged Tuesday.
The locals informed that despite the rising student enrolment, the sanctioned teaching staff strength has not been fulfilled.
“How can eight teachers manage all eleven classes effectively? Our children are suffering. This is injustice to the future of our village,” said Mushtaq Ahmad, a local resident and parent.
Notably, the problem is further compounded by an acute space crunch in the school.
“There are not enough classrooms. Students are forced to adjust in overcrowded rooms or sometimes even study under open sky,” added another resident, Ghulam Hassan.
Locals said that there are around 160 students enrolled in the school but students most of them belong to financially weak families have been suffering.
They said that they have brought this issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.
Villagers of Kahlil have now urged the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama and Chief Education Officer (CEO) Pulwama to immediately look into the matter and depute additional teaching staff as well as work towards infrastructure development.
“This issue needs urgent attention from the district administration. We request the authorities to ensure that our children get the education they deserve in a proper environment,” said Javed Ahmad whose two children are studying in the same school.
The school administration has already forwarded the issue to higher-ups, but locals say that no concrete action has been taken so far.
