Police arrests three drug peddlers in Pulwama
Srinagar: Police arrested three drug peddlers in Pulwama and recovered contraband substance from their possession. Besides, Police also arrested two drug consumers in Awantipora, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
He said that in Pulwama, a police party during naka checking at Achgoza, intercepted an Alto vehicle bearing registration number JK05H/0877 with two persons on board. During search of the vehicle, approximately 5.7 Kgs of Poppy Straw and cash amount of ₹14,200/- was recovered. The driver identified as Zahoor Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Gani Dar and the co-passenger identified as Rayees Ahmad Gooru son of Bashir Ahmad Gooru, both residents of Gath Takun, Awantipora have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain custody.
In another operation, a police party while on patrol duty at Putrigam, intercepted an Alto vehicle bearing registration number JK13A-8461, driven by Amir Ahmed Wani son of Abdul Samad Wani resident of Dadora, Pulwama. Upon search, 10.65 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
In Awantipora, during patrolling a Dangerpora, Padgampora Crossing, a Police Party arrested 02 drug consumers in suspicious circumstances. They have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Gani Bhat resident of Awantipora and Rehan Fayaz Mir son of Fayaz Ahmad Mir resident of Iqbal Colony Awantipora. During questioning, they admitted that they are regular drug consumers. Accordingly, they were shifted to drug de addiction/rehabilitation centre Tral where the test of both the persons was conducted and the report revealed positive.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
