Illegal extraction of minerals: Police seized five vehicles arrested as many persons

Srinagar: Police in Awantipora seized five vehicles used in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and arrested their drivers in Wuyan and Khrew areas, a police spokesman said Tuesday.
He said that a police party seized five vehicles (tippers and dumpers) bearing registration numbers JK01F-6266, JK01H-425, JK04C-5897, JK13C-1869 & JK02BC-4548 and arrested their drivers for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
They have been identified as Ashraf Kuttan son of Abdullah resident of Panthachowk Srinagar, Mudasir Wani son of Mohammad Akbar resident of Panthachowk Srinagar, Hazim Manzoor Bhat son of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat resident of Sharshali, Shahid Ahmad Teli son of Farooq Ahmad Teli resident of Khrew and Rameez Ahmad Khanday son of Abdul Majeed Khanday resident of Ladhoo.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Khrew and investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
