Tral youth shines in martial arts championship, wins gold medal

Says he aims to participate in Olympics

Pulwama: In a remarkable achievement, a youth from south Kashmir has outclassed many others and won gold at the national martial arts Championship.
Hammad Bashir, a youth from Kahlil area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district has won the gold medal in martial arts in recently held championship in Manipur.
Hammad said that he was interested in martial arts since his childhood and has been participating in events for the last several years.
“For the last four years, I have performed at district level followed by State and National level and have won several medals,” he said.
He added that winning a medal at national level is recognition of your hardwork and dedication and it gives you more courage to excel wherever you get an opportunity.
“I am very happy that my son has won a medal during the championship and I am hopeful that he will win more medals in the upcoming events,” said Bashir Ahmad, Hammad’s father.
Hammad thanked his coach, parents and relatives for their support at every level and hoped that they will continue supporting him to achieve his aim of playing at the Olympics.
He said that parents must allow their children to choose their fields and engage them in sports activities so as to keep them physically and mentally fit besides keeping them away from social evils.
He said that Kashmir is facing a menace of drug addiction and engaging youth in sports activities is one of the best options to get rid of this menace.
