Srinagar: In an extraordinary display of compassion, the people of Kashmir united overnight to raise Rs. 10 lakh for Ferooz Ahmad Dar, a humble and hardworking driver from the Kema area of Bandipora. His vehicle, which served as his sole means of income was tragically buried under debris in Ramban on Sunday, leaving him in despair.
Moved by his plight, noted social activist and entrepreneur Tawheed Sheikh is the first person who launched a heartfelt donation appeal early Monday morning.
Speaking about the incident, Sheikh said, “I personally spoke to Ferooz Ahmad yesterday and assured him that the people of Kashmir will always stand by those in need. The generous people of Kashmir proved me right by raising approximately Rs.10 lakh in just one day,” he added.
The appeal gained rapid momentum across social media and among locals, with support pouring in from all directions to help Ferooz rebuild his life.
Sheikh further stated that he would take up the matter with relevant authorities to ensure additional aid for the affected family.
“I will also visit Ferooz Ahmad’s family shortly. After assessing their situation, we will inform the public when to conclude the donation drive,” he said, expressing deep gratitude to all who contributed.
Ferooz Ahmad, overwhelmed by the outpouring of support, extended heartfelt thanks to everyone who stood by him. “I am truly grateful to the people for their love and generosity. May Allah bless you all,” he said with emotion.
This powerful act of collective kindness stands as a reminder that even in moments of darkness, unity and humanity shine through.
