Police conducts training program on investigation of NDPS Act cases

Srinagar: Police in Sopore organized an online comprehensive training program focused on the investigation of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act cases, which was chaired by SP Sopore Smt. Divya D-IPS. This initiative aims to enhance the capabilities of law enforcement agencies in handling NDPS cases effectively, a police spokesman said Thursday.

The training covered critical aspects of investigation procedures under the NDPS Act, including search and seizure, arrest, compliance of mandatory sections in NDPS Act etc. Further, the IOs were given training regarding financial investigation and procedures to be followed for forfeiture of properties of drug peddlers which are made from the proceeds of crime.
Addl SP Sopore Shri. Mir Murtaza-JKPS, SDPO Sopore Shri. Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS, DySP DAR Sopore Shri. Mohammad Abdullah, DySP PC Wadoora Shri. Khursheed Rasool and SHO/IC PP’S and IO’S were present on the occasion.
Participants were educated on the importance of proper evidence handling and documentation to ensure a fair trial. Experts shared best practices in conducting investigations, highlighting the need for impartiality and adherence to legal provisions.
The primary objective of this training program is to equip law enforcement officers with the necessary knowledge and skills to investigate NDPS cases efficiently and ensure conviction. By strengthening their capabilities, Police aim to contribute to the effective implementation of the NDPS Act and curb drug trafficking in the region.
