TLSC organises awareness program on Child Rights, Child abuse at Gurez
BANDIPORA: Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Gurez under the aegis of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora organised an awareness programme on child rights and child abuse.
The programme was aimed to sensitize the public, especially students and parents, about the fundamental rights of children and the alarming issue of child abuse in its various forms.
Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Gurez, presided over the porgramme and emphasized the importance of safeguarding children’s rights and ensuring a secure, nurturing environment for their growth and development.
In his keynote address, Chairman highlighted various legal provisions under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, and the Constitution of India, which guarantee the safety, education, and dignity of every child. He urged all stakeholders viz. parents, teachers, legal authorities, and the community at large to remain vigilant and report any instances of abuse or exploitation.
Resource person Adv. Javaid Iqbal, legal experts, Headmaster Boys Middle School addressed the gathering and conducted interactive sessions with the audience, shedding light on identifying signs of abuse and mechanisms available for legal and psychological support.
The event concluded with a pledge to collectively work towards the protection and empowerment of every child in the region.
