Spring festival to be held in the Almond Karewas of Newa on April 06

Pulwama, Apr 3: The Directorate of Tourism, in collaboration with Green Horticulture Newa, is set to organize a Spring Festival in the Karewas of Newa on April 6, 2025.
This vibrant celebration aims to bring together participants from across the valley to showcase their talents and enthusiasm.
The festival promises to enrich the scenic landscape of the Karewas with cultural performances, artistic displays, and engaging activities, offering an unforgettable experience for attendees.
Parigam-Newa, a picturesque hamlet in Pulwama district of is renowned for the breathtaking almond and apple orchards.
These orchards significantly contribute to the region’s economy and provide a stunning visual spectacle, especially during the blooming season.
Currently, the almond orchards are in full bloom, attracting hundreds of visitors daily. Locals believe that organizing the Jashn-e-Bahar festival in this area would not only provide economic opportunities through tourism but also strengthen cultural engagement.
Residents of Parigam-Newa have long advocated for the introduction of the Jashn-e-Bahar festival to celebrate the beauty and economic importance of their orchards.
Muneeb Ahmad, a resident of Parigam, emphasized that despite the ongoing conversion of almond orchards into apple orchards, hundreds of kanals of land in Parigam are still dedicated to almond cultivation.
