Pulwama residents demand widening of vital Newa-Rohmoo road
Pulwama: The residents of different villages of Newa hamlet of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded widening of a vital Newa-Rohmoo road.
The residents of the area said that Newa-Rohmoo road is very vital for connectivity but it is lying in a dilapidated condition as it hasn’t been macadamised for many years.
They said that the road is so narrow at many places that even two vehicles are facing difficulties while passing the track.
Javid Ahmad, a local resident said that the road has a huge traffic rush as it connects many villages with Pulwama, Srinagar and Budgam but they face problems due to traffic jam and its dilapidated condition.
He said that the road is a lifeline for many villages but government has failed to maintain it and it needs to be widened at an earliest.
Basit Ahmad, another local said that they have been demanding the widening of the road for the last many years, but to no avail and locals continue to face problems.
He said that keep aside widening, the government has failed to macadamise this vital road for the last several years.
Ahmad said that the dilapidated condition of the road is giving a tough time to the commuters and it takes hours for the people to reach a destination that is just few minutes away.
Locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but nothing has been done as of now.
They have sought the attention of MLA Pulwama and Rajpora and Deputy Commissioner Pulwama in this regard.
