Police arrests three drug peddlers
Srinagar: Police arrested three drug peddlers in Shopian and Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Saturday.
He said that in Shopian, a Police team at a checkpoint established at Girward Zawoora, intercepted two suspicious persons. They have been identified as Basharat Ali, Son of Bahadur Ali and Mohd Mushtaq Thakker, son of Abdul Rashid Thakker, both residents of Dandoot, Rajouri. During search, 739 grams of Heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession. Further investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages of the individuals.
Similarly in Sopore, a police team, during patrolling at Reban, intercepted a suspicious person namely Shakir Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Nabi Khan resident of Reban. During search police party was able to recover 103 grams of charas like substance from his possession.
All the accused persons have been arrested and cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
