The bridge will be opened to public soon, say officials

Pulwama: A crucial bridge over the Romshi rivulet in Rohmoo village of Rajpora constituency, Pulwama, which was damaged during the 2014 floods has finally been completed and is set to be opened for public use soon.
Locals expressed relief as they have been facing significant hardships due to the prolonged delay in its reconstruction. While a temporary bailey bridge was installed, it could not accommodate the heavy traffic on this key route connecting Pulwama with Budgam. Residents pointed out that several other bridges approved after 2014 were completed much earlier, but this project faced repeated halts.
Mehraj Ahmad, a local, stated that despite its importance, the bridge’s construction was slow, causing unnecessary delays.
He said that the project, funded by the World Bank and undertaken by JKPCC ten years ago, saw sluggish progress.
However, intervention by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, helped accelerate the work, leading to its long-awaited completion.
Locals thanked DC Pulwama for his efforts and urged authorities to take up the inaugural process of the bridge at an earliest so that locals won’t face problems for much more time.
They demanded that it must be inaugurated before Eid-ul-fitr so that locals who have been facing problems for years together can have a sigh of relief.
The bridge, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 21.5 crore, is expected to be operational soon.
An official from the Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department confirmed that bridge has been completed and it is ready for inaugration.
He said that the process for the inauguration has been taken up and bridge is expected to be thrown open for public in next few days.
