Fire damages several houses in Shaheed Gunj Srinagar
Srinagar, Mar 22: A massive fire broke out in the Shaheed Gunj area of Srinagar on Saturday morning, engulfing more than five residential houses.
An official said that the blaze started in the early morning hours, and engulfed some residential hoses.
As soon as fire and emergency service received the information, fire service was dispatched to the area, however, the fire had spread to as many as five houses, the official added.
The exact count of houses damaged is being examined, he added.
Meanwhile, teams from the nearby police station also reached the spot and helped in dousing the flames.
Their prompt action prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining structures and larger damage was averted, the official added.
He said that police has in the meanwhile started investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire.
