Pulwama: The residents of Padgampora and its adjacent areas in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have been suffering as the road from Padgampora to Kakpora and other interior roads are lying in dilapidated condition.

Locals said that the road from Padgampora to Kakapora is full of potholes due to which commuters are suffering a lot especially during wet climate.

They said that the road is of vital importance as it connects a vast area of Awantipora with Pampore and Kakapora.

Syed Rashid, a local resident said that children and elderly people are suffering more due to the bumpy conditions of the road.

He said that the condition of the interior roads in Padgampora is very bad and as a result the people are facing problems while travelling.

Javid Ahmad, another local resident said that part of main Padgampora-Kakapora road was macadamised last year but part of it has been left out which is giving a tough time to the commuters.

“School children are the worse hit as they have to travel twice using these bumpy roads,” he said, adding that the road conditions are exposing the travellers to accidents.

He said that the interior roads of the village are full of water and people are unable to move freely.

The locals said that they have brought this issue into the notice of authorities several times but to no avail.

“Every time we are being assured that there roads will be repaired soon but nothing is being done on ground,” they said.

They requested higher ups to look into the matter and take up the restoration work this year so that locals will feel some relief.

They have sought the attention of MLA Pulwama Waheed Ur Rehman Para and Deputy commissioner Pulwama Dr Basharat Qayoom in this regard.
