With better infrastructure, Kashmir youth to excel further in sports: Ubaid Bhat

Kulgam: A youth from south Kashmir’s Kulgam district has been selected for Indian international soft tennis championship 2025.
Ubaid Hassan Bhat (21) a resident of Bozgam Kilam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam who is pursuing Bachelor’s degree at GDC Kulgam is set to participate in Indian International soft tennis championship from 16-25 March at Greater Noida UP.
Ubaid said that he was interested in taking part in sports activities since his childhood and came to know about soft tennis in 2023 through my cousin.
“I started taking part in soft tennis and played the district in 2024 followed by the state where I won a silver medal,” he said.
“After winning silver at state level, I got the opportunity to play in the national championship and again at state level, where I won a silver and bronze medal,” he said.
He thanked his parents, his cousin and General Secretary J&K Amateur Soft Association Shakir Ashraf for their support.
Ubaid said that he is hopeful that he will perform well in the upcoming event and showcase his talent at the mega stage.
He said that youth of Jammu and Kashmir are very talented and they are proving their mettle wherever they are getting opportunities.
He further added that sports infrastructure is J&K is being developed and with more development, youth will further excel in sports field.
