Pulwama, Shopian residents demand construction of bridge over Ranbiara in Rakh
Pulwama: The residents of Darbagh Watchi area of Zainapora sub division of south Kashmir’s Shopian district and Rakh area of Pulwama have demanded construction of a bridge over Ranbiara at Rakh Pulwama.
The residents of the area said that the bridge will connect both areas with each as their land falls on the opposite banks of the rivulet.
Rayees Ahmad Dar, a local resident said that they are facing lot of problems in the absence of a bridge there as the makeshift bridge gets washed away frequently.
He said every year locals on their own construct makeshift arrangements but every year it gets washed away due to which people of the area have to suffer.
He said that the bridge connection will provide the shortest path for Darbagh residents to get connected with Anantnag, Pulwama and Srinagar while it will be easy for Rakh residents to reach the Shopian side.
Nazir Ahmad, another local resident said that elderly people, women and children are facing a lot of problems in absence of a concrete bridge.
He said that there is a need to construct a concrete bridge as a onetime solution so that people won’t suffer anymore.
Locals said that students have been crossing the river over a small unsafe bridge and this can prove fatal anytime.
The locals said that they have contacted every authority but nothing has been done on the ground.
“The government has spent huge amounts for different works everywhere but have failed in constructing a concrete bridge here,” they said.
They requested MLAs of both Watchi and Rajpora along with Deputy Commissioners of Pulwama and Shopian to intervene in this regard.
Meanwhile, an official said that a DPR has been submitted for the construction of the bridge and they are expecting that construction work will be taken up.
