Police attaches property in Sopore, Anantnag and Shopian

Srinagar: Police on Thursday attached several properties belonging to various offenders in Sopore, Anantnag and Shopian, a police spokesman said.
Police in Sopore have attached 4 kanals and 2 marlas of orchard land belonging to two proclaimed offenders identified as Afroz Ahmad War son of Mohammad Maqbool War and Maqsood Ahmad War son of Sona-u-llah War, both residents of Warpora Sopore under Survey numbers 3225, 3950, 3956 and 2384 in Estate Warpora Sopore.
This action is connected to case FIR No. 28/2008 U/S 2/3 EMCO, 120B, 121 IPC and 7/24 Arms Act, a police spokesman said.
He said that the attachment was executed under the provisions of Sections 82, 83 of CRPC, by a team of Police and Revenue officials, after receiving approval from competent authority.
In another such case police in Anantnag attached a double-storey under-construction residential house belonging to Abdul Majeed Bhat son-in-law of Mohammad Ahsan Ganaie resident of Cheenigund, Srigufwara. The property, spread over 1 Kanal of land and valued at ₹1 crore, has been attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, as it has been linked to proceeds from drug trafficking.
The accused is involved in a major narcotics case registered under FIR No. 68/2021 at Police Station Srigufwara, wherein a substantial quantity of contraband substances was recovered.
This action highlights Police’s firm commitment to combating the drug menace and dismantling the financial networks sustaining illegal narcotics trade. By taking stringent measures, the police aim to deter criminal activities and safeguard society from the devastating impact of drug abuse, the spokesman added.
In a major breakthrough against the drug menace, Police in Shopian attached a double-storey residential house worth ₹22,17,827/- lacs and cash amount of Rs. 14,52,100/- lacs belonging to a notorious drug peddler identified as Mudasir Ahmad Malik, Yawer Ahmad Malik & Shahid-ul-Islam Malik, sons of Gh Mohd Malik resident of Melhura Zainapora. The action was taken under section 68-E read with 68-F(1) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, as part of the ongoing anti-narcotics drive in the district.
The property attachment is linked to FIR No.54/ 2021 & 87/ 2023 of Police Station Zainapora and was executed in the presence of duly constituted Police team and the Executive Magistrate, ensuring full compliance with legal protocols, the spokesman added.
