Rakh Pulwama residents seek construction of retaining wall along Ranibara near Jamia Masjid

Pulwama: The residents of Rakh village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded construction of a retaining wall along rivulet Ranibara near Jamia Masjid in Rakh.
The residents of Rakh said that the spot near Jamia Masjid is accident prone and often leads to accidents and there is immediate need of a retaining wall at the spot.
Javid Ahmad, local Auqaf President said that a day before a truck plunged into the rivulet Ranibara resulting in injuries to three persons and heavy damage to the truck.
He said that had there been a retaining wall, such incident wouldn’t have happened.
Ghulam Mohammad Mir, another local resident said that retaining wall along the rivulet is a must to prevent accidents and damage to property.
He said that this is a vulnerable spot and constructing a retaining wall at an earliest is a must to prevent further damage.
Locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.
They said that even some locals tried to get the approval of constructing the wall but many departments did not cooperate and tried to avoid providing an NOC needed for a go ahead.
They requested the concerned authorities to look into the matter at an earliest and take immediate steps in this regard.
