R&B sub division Imamsahib continues to operate from Zainapora
Locals demand intervention of higher officials, seek shifting of office to Imamsahib
Shopian: The Roads and Buildings sub division Imamsahib continues to function from Zainapora division due to unknown reasons, locals alleged Wednesday.
The residents of Imamsahib said that sub division R&B Imamsahib was sanctioned around a year back but it was never shifted to Imamsahib.
They said that the sub division is functioning from the Zainapora division office that is at least 15 kilometres from Imamsahib and as such the locals have been suffering as major works in Imamsahib area are not being taken up.
Junaid Ahmed, a local social activist said that if the sub division was sanctioned by the government for Imamsahib then why is not being shifted to the place where it should have been working since then.
He said that Imamsahib is in between Shopian and Zainapora and access to Shopian was easy for locals as compared to Zainapora.
Waqar Fayaz, another local resident said that for any work, the residents of Imamsahib area have to visit Zainapora as AEE remains present at Zainapora Division office.
He said that if AEE office will be made functional in Imamsahib, then the purpose of creating sub division Imamsahib will get fulfilled.
The locals said that they have brought this issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but on ground nothing has been done as of now.
They have requested higher ups especially Chief Engineer R&B Department and Deputy Commissioner Shopian to look into the matter at an earliest so that locals won’t suffer anymore.
