Pulwama: The residents of Gujjar Basti Karmulla Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded basic facilities in their area.
The residents of the area complained of improper road connectivity, shortage of potable water and poor network connectivity and many other issues.
Zahid Ahmed, a local resident said that there is no proper road connectivity for around five kilometres from main Karmulla and people of the area are forced to go by foot for necessary work.
He said that Karmulla village consists of over 1100 households but there is no ration depot to cater to the needs of the people.
He said that and neither a high school nor a higher secondary school has been sanctioned for the area.
Zahid said that the condition of the road is in a dilapidated state as it has never been macadamised nor being repaired due to which locals are facing huge problems.
During emergencies, we have to take patients on our back or on a cart to make them reach the nearest health facility, he added.
Abrar Ahmad, another local resident said that the locals have to walk for around five kilometres to get the ration and they have to use horses to take ration and other items to their home.
He said that area is without any proper water supply facility and they have to visit a spring which too is several kilometres away to fetch water for drinking purposes.
He added that area is not having proper mobile network connectivity and in absence of proper mobile connectivity, students are becoming the worst sufferers.
Locals said that they have been betrayed by every politician so far as they come here for votes only and after the elections are over they forget the plight of the people.
Despite bringing these issues into the notice of concerned authorities several times, no positive step is being taken to mitigate our problems, the locals alleged.
The locals have sought attention of LG Manoj Sinha , CM Omar Abdullah and Deputy Commissioner Pulwama in this regard
Meanwhile MLA Tral Rafiq Ahmad Naik said that all process to provide road to the area has been completed and very soon work on the road will start.
