Know your Army display: Republic Day Event Showcases the Technological Prowess of the Indian Army

Baramulla: In a dazzling showcase of cutting-edge technology and military precision, Baramulla witnessed the “Know Your Army” display on Saturday, organized as part of the Republic Day celebrations. The event, aimed at strengthening the bond between the Army and the public, highlighted the technological advancements and operational might of the Indian Army under the theme of “Awaam aur Jawaan.”
The event kicked off with an awe-inspiring 500-meter-long National Flag procession, featuring 150 children entering the venue as part of the Tiranga Yatra. A towering 35-meter-high National Flag was installed, symbolizing patriotism and pride.
Organized by the Dagger Division of the Chinar Corps, the event marked the 76th Republic Day. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Dagger Division was the Chief Guest, accompanied by the Commander of the Baramulla Brigade. Representatives from district administration, security forces such as BSF, CRPF, JKP, and NCC cadets also graced the occasion. Over 2,500 attendees, including members of civil society, youth leaders, students, and families, gathered to witness the spectacular display.
Key Attractions and Performances
The event featured a range of activities, including:
Flypasts by drones and demonstrations of artillery guns in action.
Displays of the Army’s latest vehicles and equipment.
Cultural and martial arts performances such as Sikh Gatka and a Karate routine by Chinar YUVA Karate Kids.
A military band performance and a breathtaking dog show by the Army’s K9 units.
An interactive Mobile Museum narrating stories of camaraderie between the people and the Army in Baramulla.
Youth leader Touseef Raina praised the event, saying: “Such events engage with the youth, dispel myths, and instill pride in our Army. It has inspired many to consider joining the defense forces.”
Shadaab, a local resident from Old Town, expressed excitement: “This is the first time such an event has been held here. The performances by trained Army dogs and the Sikh Gatka were truly amazing.”
Rehman Malik, a student from GDC Baramulla, remarked: “I’ve never seen such an impressive array of weapons and vehicles. The Military Band was extraordinary and very unique.”
In addition to the displays, the Army recruitment counter provided information to youth about opportunities to serve in the armed forces.
The “Know Your Army” event reinforced the Army’s commitment to fostering trust and cooperation with the people of Baramulla. It not only celebrated the technological and cultural might of the Army but also inspired the younger generation to consider careers in defense.
