Police arrests four gamblers in Kulgam, stake money seized
Srinagar: Police in Kulgam arrested four gamblers and seized stake money from their possession, a police spokesman said Thursday.
He said that acting on a specific information regarding gambling activities at Humshali Bugh, a police party raided the spot. On seeing the police party gamblers tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully. They have been identified as Haroon Rashid son of Abdul Rashid Malik, Liyaqat Hussain son of Mohammad Hussain Malik, Saqib Ahmad Mochi Son of Reyaz Ahmad Mochi all residents of Yaripora and Jehangir Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Ahsan Dar resident of Kujjar, Frisal. Stake money of ₹80000/- and playing cards were recovered from their possession.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of gambling Act stands registered at Police Station Yaripora and investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
