Waghama-Bijbehara residents suffer as electric transformer develops frequent snags Locals demand upgradation, seek scheduled power supply
Anantnag: The residents of Waghama area of Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district alleged unscheduled power supply to the area. The residents said that the domestic electric transformer installed in the village develops frequent snags.
The residents have blamed the PDD for failing in finding a permanent solution to the problem and said that their repeated requests to upgrade the transformer have not been taken seriously by the officials.
Locals said the existing transformer has developed technical snag several times in the last one month and they are without power supply for most of the time.
They said that the transformer has been developing snags frequently due to heavy load that needs to be checked.
Yasir Ahmad, a local resident said that the government increases electricity fee as per their will but they have failed to upgrade the power infrastructure.
He said that there are around 50 households, shops and few sawmill machines that are dependent on the existing 100 KVA transformer and due to heavy load it develops snag almost every day.
Zahoor Ahmad, another local said that despite paying bills on time authorities fail in properly repairing the transformer.
He said that the monthly tariff has been increased to 1800 in the last one year but the power supply and the infrastructure has always been neglected.
Locals said that they have been suffering in this bone chilling winter due to this faulty transformer and even the students have to bear with the unscheduled power cuts.
They said that they have been raising this issue with concerned higher officials who assure about permanent solutions but on ground no steps has been taken yet.
They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that they won’t suffer any more.
They demanded that 100 KVA transformer must be replaced by 250 KVA so that locals can get scheduled power supply.
