Shopian: The residents of Sedow village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district allege that their village is sans any basic facility even during these progressive times.
Locals claim that despite living just eight kilometres away from district headquarters they have been left alone by the administration till date.
They said that even in 21st century they are without basic amenities as since last 50 years, politicians visited the village just for votes and no developmental work was executed on ground.  Muzaffar Ahmad, a local resident said that they are living a miserable life as no one comes to help them.
“Our village has been neglected on all developmental fronts as it lacks proper road connectivity and potable drinking water supply,” he said.
“We are treated like animals as no attention is being given towards our village which has no proper road connectivity, no proper electricity and water facilities,” said Bilal Ahmad Bhat, another local resident.
Local women have to walk for around 2 kilometres to fetch water for drinking purposes and electricity remains available for just few hours in summers and not even for one hour in winters, he added
The locals said that their electricity tariff is being increased after every two three months but power infrastructure isn’t being upgraded due to which they are receiving unscheduled power supply.
They said that power infrastructure in the area is very weak and as a result they have been receiving unscheduled power supply.
They further added that people of the area are very poor and aren’t in a position to submit high electricity bills.
The locals said that they have brought this issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.
They once again requested the higher ups to look into the matter so that they can heave a sigh of relief.
They have sought attention of MLA Shopian and Deputy Commissioner Shopian in this regard.
