Kawini Pulwama residents allege disruption in power supply
Pulwama: The residents of Kawini Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district Tuesday alleged that their area has witnessed breakdown in power supply as the domestic transformer in the area has developed a snag.
The residents of the area are up in arms against the PDD alleging their failure in restoring the power supply in the area.
The locals said the existing transformer has developed technical last week and they are without power for the last five days.
Aijaz Ahmad, a local resident said that the government increases electricity fee as per their will but they have failed to upgrade the infrastructure as old poles along with transformers are installed everywhere.
He said that government has been claiming that they have been repairing the transformers in 24 to 48 hours but that isn’t the case here.
Aamir Ahmad, another local said that despite paying bills on time authorities have failed in repairing the transformer in their area.
He said that the monthly tariff has been increased to Rs 1800 per month in the last one year but the PDD has failed in upgrading the infrastructure.
The locals said that they have been suffering in this bone chilling winter due to this faulty transformer.
They said that they have been raising this issue before the concerned higher officials who assure that the transformer will be reinstalled soon but no such promise is being fulfilled.
The locals have now sought the attention of MLA Pulwama Waheed Ur Rehman Para and Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Dr Basharat Qayoom in this regard.
