Damage to PDD workshop: Around two dozen villages without electricity in Pulwama

Pulwama: Around two dozen villages along with Pulwama town are without electricity after a PDD workshop in Pulwama town was gutted in a fire incident.
Locals from Pulwama town and its adjacent areas said that they are without electricity since Wednesday morning after fire broke out in PDD workshop in Pulwama town.
They said that everything is dependent on electricity nowadays and in absence of electricity, life is proving to be very different especially during these harsh winter days.
The locals requested the concerned authorities to take immediate steps in this regard and restore power supply at the earliest.
Mohammad Maqbool Naik, Executive Engineer PDD Pulwama, when contacted said that around 50 transformers were damaged in the fire incident.
He said that the workshop was damaged fully but the receiving station hasn’t suffered any major damage.
He said that the station couldn’t be charged as water had entered it when fire was being doused.
He added that panels at the receiving station are being dried up while all issues are being rectified
After completion of the drying process, panels will be charged and if everything will be ok, supply will be restored by Thursday night only, he said.
He said that around 15,000 households are without electricity currently while essential supply for hospitals and other government offices was restored already.
The official said that his department has been working tirelessly day and night to restore supply at an earliest.
