Pulwama, Shopian residents demand bridge over Ranbiara in Rakh

Pulwama: The residents of Darbagh Watchi area of Zainapora sub division of south Kashmir’s Shopian district and Rakh area of Pulwama have demanded a bridge over Ranbiara at Rakh Pulwama.
The residents of the area said that bridge will connect both areas with each other and the locals will face lot of ease as their agricultural land falls on both of the rivulet.
Aadil Ahmad, a local resident said that they are facing a lot of problems in absence of bridge and the makeshift bridge that has been put up temporarily gets washed away frequently.
He said every year locals on their own organise makeshift arrangements but they hardly prove a permanent solution to the needs of the people.
Locals said that bridge connection will provide shortest path for Darbagh residents to get connected with Anantnag -Pulwama and Srinagar while it will easy many problems of Rakh residents as they can easily travel to Shopian side.
Gulzar Ahmad, another local resident said that elderly people, women and children are facing lot of problems in absence of a concrete bridge.
He said that they are facing a lot of problems in the absence of bridge, especially in case of emergency.
He added that there is a need to construct one concrete bridge which will prove a onetime solution to the problems faced by the locals.
The locals also said that students have been crossing the river over a small unsafe bridge which can prove fatal anytime.
They said that they have contacted every authority but nothing has been done on the ground.
“Government has spent lakhs on different works everywhere but have failed in constructing a concrete bridge here,” they said.
They requested MLAs of both Watchi and Rajpora along with Deputy Commissioners of Pulwama and Shopian to intervene in this regard.
