Five Pulwama girls to play in U-14 National hockey championship

Pulwama: At least five young girls from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district are set to represent Jammu and Kashmir under 14 National hockey Championship.
The National under-14 hockey championship is set to be played in Madhya Pradesh during the current month, officials said.
The five young girls are Khansa Sajad, Rutba Jan, Asmat Jan, Arbina Jan and Toiba Javeed, they added.
Toiba is a student of Government High School Pahoo while other four are students of Upper Primary School Gulbugh Pampore.
These students said that they are thankful to their parents and teachers who have been very supportive to them in both academic and co-circular activities.
“We have performed well at district and state level and we are hopeful that we will be able to showcase our talent in upcoming events as well,’ they said.
The players credited their success to the Hockey Turf Stadium that was inaugurated by LG Manoj Sinha.
They said that with the improved infrastructure they were able to practice and that helps them to perform well.
They said that after the construction of the turf, more and more youth in Pulwama are getting attracted to hockey and the turf can prove a game changer for Pulwama youth.
Their teachers and families have congratulated them and wished them all the best for the upcoming event, the officials added.
