South Kashmir athletes shine bright at 25th National Sqay Championship Bag 10 medals

Pulwama: The athletes from south Kashmir, representing the districts of Shopian, Kulgam, and Anantnag, achieved remarkable success at the 25th Cadet, Sub-Junior, and Junior National Sqay Championship, held from 7th to 9th December 2024 at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Sector 3, Panchkula, Haryana.
South Kashmir athletes brought immense pride to Jammu and  Kashmir, securing an impressive medal tally under the guidance of their dedicated coaches, Shahid Manzoor and Owais Mushtaq.
The medal winners include Huda Khan – Gold Medal, Afiya Farooq – Gold Medal, Baseerat Aijaz – Gold Medal, Sheefat Nisar – Gold Medal, KUMARI Aaneeqa Ishtaq – Gold Medal,  KUMARI Najmeena Noor – Silver Medal, SHRI Faraz Furqan – Gold Medal, Faizan Khursheed – Gold Medal, Malik Muazin – Gold Medal and  Hammad Sajad – Bronze Medal.
The Medalists said that they are thankful to their parents who have been supportive to them that is helping them to showcase their talent at mega stages.
They said that winning medals at national stage gives recognition to a player that boosts his confidence and helps him to excel further at mega stages.
They demanded that infrastructure needed to be further developed in J&K so that more youth interested in different sports can fulfil their dreams
The outstanding efforts of these athletes, along with the mentorship of Shahid Manzoor and Owais Mushtaq, showcased the unparalleled talent and dedication of South Kashmir’s youth, a parent said.
Their success highlights the region’s growing prominence in Sqay martial arts and serves as an inspiration for aspiring athletes.
South Kashmir continues to shine as a hub of martial arts excellence, with these achievements leaving a lasting mark on the national stage, said another sports lover.
