Pulwama: The residents of the historical Mattan hamlet have alleged unscheduled power cuts in their areas and have demanded power as per schedule.
The residents of the Mattan town alleged that they are getting a supply of just few hours when they are scheduled to get 16 hour power supply on daily basis.
They said l said that the unscheduled power cuts have increased in last few weeks despite submitting monthly tariff on time.
Tasaduq Ahmad, a local resident said that they are reeling under hours of power cuts daily and despite repeated requests to the PDD department no attention was provided towards their plight.
“We are facing hardships due to the pesky power cuts all through the day and night. If PDD is unable to provide uninterrupted scheduled power supply then they don’t have the right to charge us for providing electricity,” he said.
Manjeet Singh, another local said the frequent power cuts have also affected the students adversely and despite repeated requests nothing is being done on the ground.
He said that locals are facing difficulties to pay electricity fee worth thousands that is being enhanced almost three to four times in a year, but on the other hand there is no improvement of power supply.
He said that when government has failed to provide scheduled supply how come they are enhancing fees per month.
The locals said that if government has published the schedule then why the PDD officials are resorting to unscheduled power cuts.
They said that they brought the issue into the notice of the concerned authorities’ number of times, but situation hasn’t changed on ground.
They appealed CM and district administration to look into the matter and take immediate steps so that locals won’t suffer anymore.
