Pulwama: The residents of Beighpora village in Awantipora hamlet of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded commissioning of a transformer installed in April this year.
The residents of the area said they are suffering due to erratic power supply as the transformer from which they were getting power supply is critically overloaded.
They said that after hectic efforts a new transformer was sanctioned for the area and was installed however, due to unknown reasons the authorities are yet to make it functional.
They further added that they are suffering in absence of proper power supply in this bone chilling winter.
Aamir Ahmad, a local resident said that since last several days they are without electricity as the already overloaded transformer is not able to bear the load of the whole village.
He said that as board and university exams are about to start in absence of electricity the students are the worse sufferers.
“Though we have brought this issue into the notice of higher ups, they have failed to help the residents to feel some relief that too during this bone chilling winter,” Rizwan, another youth said.
The locals have requested higher ups to look into the matter and make the transformer functional so that locals won’t have to suffer anymore.
They have sought the attention of MLA concerned and Deputy Commissioner Pulwama in this regard.
