Police arrests two drug peddlers in Srinagar, one in Ganderbal

Srinagar: Police in Srinagar arrested two drug peddlers and recovered Psychotropic substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Saturday.
He said that a police party at a checkpoint established at Foreshore Road near public park Habbak intercepted a vehicle (Alto car) bearing registration No: JK01AL-6614 with two persons on board.
They have been identified as Haris Bilal son of Bilal Ahmed Dar resident of Ellahibagh and Sameer Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat resident of Buchpora Srinagar.
During search of the vehicle, 10 grams of charas like substance and 14 strips (140 Tablets) of banned drug was recovered. Both the accused have been arrested and vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, the spokesman added.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.176/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nigeen and further investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, police arrested a drug peddler in Ganderbal and recovered contraband substance.
A police spokesman said that police received information through reliable sources that a person identified as Shameem Ahmad Khatana son of Late Abdul Gani Khatana resident of Baktoori Mohalla, Gund has concealed contraband substance at his residential house.
Acting swiftly, a special police team of Police Station Gund along with Executive Magistrate 1st Class and independent witnesses raided the residential house of the accused. During search, 08Kgs of bhang patri was recovered, which was seized and the accused was arrested on the spot. Further investigation of the case is under process.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 53/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Gund and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesman adedd.
