Police initiates crackdown on traffic violations in north Kashmir’s Sopore
Sopore: SSP traffic rural Ravinderpal Singh alongwith several other officers launched a crackdown on traffic violators in Sopore town following a tragic road accident in Tengpora, Srinagar, that claimed the lives of two minors, reports said.
As part of this drive, traffic police is specifically targeted underage drivers, seizing vehicles, and imposing penalties on those flouting traffic rules. This swift action aims to curb reckless driving and ensure road safety in the town. The police are also likely to increase patrols and checkpoints to monitor traffic and enforce compliance with traffic regulations, police officials said.
SSP traffic said that they have been carrying out this practice regularly but after the Srinagar accident they have intensified their drive to curb traffic violations.
He said that number of two wheelers has been seized and penalties worth thousands of rupees have been imposed. He advised parents not to encourage their children to drive without driving license and without proper documents.
General public also appreciated the drive by traffic police and said that this drive must continue on all the routes so as to minimize loss of precious human lives during road accidents, the official added.
Ravindedpal singh also advised traders and local vendors not to occupy roads illegally which not only hamper movement of general public but could be a cause of road accidents as well.
