Sewerage waste management shed turned into garbage dumping site in Parigam Pulwama

Pulwama: The Sewerage waste management shed in Hari Parigam area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district has been turned into a dumping site, locals alleged Saturday saying that they are facing hardships due to the negligence of Authorities.
Locals from the Hari Parigam area said that the Rural Development department had constructed the shed near the National Highway where garbage is being thrown but it is not being cleared on time.
They said that the garbage put there isn’t being segregated nor is it being removed from the area under any strict schedule.
They said that the shed is close to the main road and people fear walking along the road due to the huge presence of canines who have made the shed a permanent location for themselves.
Zahoor Ahmad, a local resident said that garbage is attracting dogs in huge numbers due to which people are unable to move around in the area.
He said that the foul smell coming from the garbage is forcing people passing close to the shed to cover their faces and nose.
Javid Ahmad, another local said that the whole garbage of the area is being dumped near the shed and it usually remains scattered for weeks together.
“If the government is really working on ‘Swach Bharat Mission and Schweta hi Sewa’ then they need to fix these issues immediately,” he added.
Locals living close to the shed said that they are suffering due to the foul smell coming from the site besides that their children are unable to roam freely.
They said that the government must clear this site on a regular basis or it must be closed once for all.
They said that they have brought this issue into the notice of higher ups several times but to no avail.
They requested higher ups especially DC Pulwama and ACD concerned to look into the matter at an earliest so that the suffering for the locals will end.
