Art 370 resolution: After BJP protests continue Speaker dares BJP to bring vote of no confidence against him, Adjourns House till tomorrow
Srinagar, Nov 6: As the house met again after two adjournments earlier in the day, the protesting BJP legislators refused to take their seats and instead continued the protest in the Well of the House. The Speaker Abdur Rahim Rather dared the BJP legislators to bring a vote of no confidence motion against him.
“If you have decided not to allow this House to run what can I do. Take your seats. Don’t shout and sit down,” Speaker asked the BJP legislators who climbed the Assembly secretary’s table amid slogans against the government.
As the BJP legislators refused to sit, the Speaker Rather dared them to bring a vote of no confidence against him. “Bring the vote of no confidence motion against me, bring it today or tomorrow,” the Speaker dared the protesting legislators.
All 28 BJP legislators refused to take back their seats forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House till tomorrow.
Earlier, the House passed the resolution seeking restoration of Article 370 and dialogue between GoI and representatives of people of J&K with two-third majority. Apart from the NC legislators, two independent legislators Sheikh Khursheed and Shabir Kullay also supported the resolution. Three PDP MLAs and Peoples Conference chief Sajad Lone also supported the resolution that was passed by voice vote—(KNO)
