Arigam Pulwama residents demand repair of defunct transformer

Pulwama: The residents Arigam in the Tral area south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded proper repairing of their transformer that has got damaged few days back.
The residents of the area said that a 63 KVA transformer got damaged four days ago in the area, plunging the entire population into darkness.
Shabir Ahmad, a local resident said that the transformer was repaired and installed but within two minutes it got damaged again.
He said that at a time when the government claims that they have been repairing transformers in 24 hours duration but here in Awantipora it has been taking more time than expected.
Sajad Ahmad Mir, another local resident said that they have been continuously living in darkness for the past several days now and they have been waiting for the proper repairs of the transformer.
He said that authorities should have replaced the transformer and provided them other transformer within 24 hours, but it was not done.
The locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities but to no avail.
They have sought the attention of concerned MLA and Deputy Commissioner Pulwama in this regard.
Meanwhile, an official of the concerned department said that transformer is being repaired and will be reinstalled soon.
