Churat Kulgam residents demand repair of domestic electric transformer
Kulgam: The residents of Churat area in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district have demanded repair of their transformer that has got damaged three days back.
The residents of the area said that a 250 KVA transformer got damaged three days back in the area plunging the whole area into darkness.
Sameer Ahmad, a local resident said that a 250 KVA transformer got damaged leaving around 100 households in darkness.
He said that at a time when government claims that they have been repairing transformers in 24 hours, three days have passed but the transformer in their area hasn’t been repaired yet.
Javid Ahmad Reshie, another local resident said that the transformer has been partially functioning but majority are without power supply.
He said they authorities should have either replaced the transformer or repaired it on urgent basis.
The locals said that they have brought the issue to the notice of concerned authorities who have sent a technician but he failed to repair the transformer.
They have sought attention of concerned MLA and Deputy commissioner Kulgam in this regard.
Meanwhile, an official of the concerned department said that transformer is being repaired and supply is being restored fully by Tuesday morning.
