Police arrests drug peddler in Budgam
Srinagar: Police arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and recovered contraband substance from his possession, a police spokesman said Thursday.
He said that police at Charar-e-Sharief received an information through reliable source that a person identified as Khurshid Ahmad Ganie son of Abdullah Ganie resident of Bunhar Charawani has illegally dumped dried poppy straw and crushed cannabis in his residential house.
Acting swiftly, police party conducted a search of the said house along with Naib Tehsildar Charar-e-Sharief. During search 6Kgs of poppy straw, 5Kgs of dried cannabis like substance and 1Kg of semi dried cannabis leaves was recovered and seized on spot. The accused was arrested on the spot and has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Subsequently, a case vide FIR No. 100/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Charar e Sharief & further investigation has been taken up, the spokesman added.
