Demand that roadsides dug months back are casing huge inconvenience to people
Shopian: The residents of different areas of south Kashmir’s Shopian district have said that roadsides in their areas have been dug months back for laying pipelines under JJM mission, but the authorities are yet to lay these pipeline causing huge inconvenience to the locals.
The residents of Kadgam, Pargochi and its adjacent areas in Shopian said that three months back authorities have dug up roadsides to lay down pipeline under Jal Jeevan Mission but the pipeline haven’t been laid yet.
They said that the dug up roadsides are causing inconveniences for locals especially during the current peak apple season.
Junaid Ahmad, a local resident said that the roadside digging for laying pipelines began months ago, the work has since been stalled, leaving the locals frustrated.
The incomplete work has caused inconveniences such as disrupted traffic and damaged roads, with no clear timeline for when the project will be finished, he said.
Asif Ahmad, another local resident said the dug-up roads have become difficult to navigate for both pedestrians and vehicles, contributing to traffic disruptions and damage to vehicles.
He said that even MCC has been lifted now and authorities must expedite the work at an earliest.
The locals have expressed concerns over the slow progress of work and the difficulties they face daily during the peak apple season.
They said that despite bringing this issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times nothing has been done on ground.
The residents have now appealed to the authorities to expedite the work, ensuring that the pipelines are laid as soon as possible, and to restore the roads to their original condition.
Meanwhile, an official assured that work will be taken up soon so that locals don’t face any further problems.
