Despite having huge tourism potential, Sangervani Pulwama neglected, allege locals
‘Few tourist huts constructed in 2018, but not put to use‘
Pulwama: The residents of Sangervani hamlet in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have alleged that despite having huge tourism potential, the area has been neglected.
The residents of the area said that there is huge tourism potential in Sangervani, Sidak and its adjacent areas but on ground nothing is being done to exploit the potential.
They further added that in 2018 the government had come up with a few tourist huts in Sangervani but they haven’t been put to use as of now.
They said that the area is more beautiful than the famous tourist spots in Kashmir but the government has failed to develop it due to which only few locals visit the spot.
Shabir Ahmad, a local resident said that hundreds of people from different areas of Kashmir have been visiting this spot and the number has been increasing every year.
He said that Sangervani has a lush green forest and a canal has crystal water coming from the pir panchal mountains which attracts people towards it.
He said that the spot needs to be developed with proper connectivity by constructing better roads along with other facilities.
Javid Ahmad Shala, another local said that the area has huge tourism potential but that needs to be channelized properly.
He said that hundreds of people have been visiting and camping at the site but they have been facing problems in absence of facilities.
Locals said that hundreds of people from this economically backward area can earn their livelihood if it is developed properly.
They said that huts have been constructed but not put to use since 2018 and it must be investigated as why and for what they were constructed.
They said that with growing unemployment, the government must develop such destinations that can help in generating employment opportunities for hundreds of people.
