The residents of the Zadoora village which consists of around 200 households said that they are facing shortage of water since last several years but no attention is being given towards this grave issue.
They said that women folk of the area are forced to walk around 2 km to fetch potable water and the problem gets worse during winters when the women folk have to walk in icy cold conditions.
They said that despite living close to the district headquarters, they have been neglected so far.
Aabid Ahmad, a local resident said that most people of the area are forced to drink contaminated water due to which they are facing a lot of health problems.
He said that they were assured some time back that the government will take up construction of water supply scheme in the area.
“The construction work was started but was soon left midway,” the locals alleged.
Shakeel Ahmad Mir, another local resident said that they are going to other villages to fetch potable water.
He said that the government on one hand is claiming that every household is being given potable water but on the other hand, areas like Zadoora are being neglected.

They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, an official of the Jal Shakti department said that there was some issue that has been sorted out and work is expected to start after Model Code of Conduct will be over.
He assured that Zadoora area will get potable water very soon.
