Police recovers illicit liquor in Anantnag, four arrested
Srinagar: In a major drive against illicit liquor, Police in Anantnag arrested four individuals and seized a significant quantity of illicit liquor in various operations, a police spokesman said Friday.
He said that during routine Naka checking at Tulkhan Crossing, a Police party apprehended Javeed Ahmad Dar son of Ghlam Mohammad Dar resident of Tulkhan Bijbehara, who was found transporting several bottles of illicit liquor. He has been arrested and shifted to concerned police station.
In another operation at Sarnal Chowk, a Police party intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK03A-3607 and recovered illicit liquor from the possession of motorcyclist Mohammad Maqsood Mansoori son of Mohammad Ishaq resident of Bana Ara Amarpur, District Banka, Bihar. Accused has been arrested and shifted to police station.
Additionally, during a routine vehicle checking near GMC Dialgam, a passenger auto bearing registration number JK03G-0349 traveling from Larkipora to Anantnag was stopped. A search of the auto led to the recovery of multiple sealed bottles of illicit liquor. 02 individuals onboard, identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Tramboo and Nazir Ahmad Rather, were arrested.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Stations Bijbehara and Anantnag, and further investigations have been initiated, the spokesman added.
