Police seizes huge quantity of crude wine in Budgam, two held

Srinagar: Police in Budgam seized a huge quantity of crude wine and arrested two accused persons involved in its production and distribution, a police spokesman said Thursday.

He said that a police party of Police Station Budgam while conducting naka checking at village Nasrullahpora apprehended two persons carrying a barrel of crude wine. They were arrested on spot and subsequently identified as Daneshwar Prasad son of Ramdhar Prasad resident of Sirli District Sakti Chhattisgarh and Lakshman Predas Sahu son of Baba Ram resident of Aril district Sakti Chhattisgarh.

During further questioning and subsequent search, 12 more barrels of crude wine approximately 195 Litres were recovered from their possession. Both the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, the spokesman added.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 372/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation has been set into motion, he added.
